Carlie Martin - OWner

Meet Carlie Martin, M.S., CCC-SLP

Carlie Martin is a state-licensed and nationally certified pediatric speech-language pathologist and the owner of Small Talk Speech Company, LLC.

A New England native, Carlie earned her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Rhode Island. She went on to receive her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of New Hampshire, with a clinical focus in pediatrics.

Carlie has over six years of experience providing speech-language services to children from birth through 18 years old across a variety of settings, including private practice, early intervention home-based services, and special education schools. She specializes in

  • augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)

  • early language development

  • Gestalt language Processors

Carlie has extensive experience supporting children with autism, developmental delays, language disorders, fluency disorders, feeding and swallowing challenges, and articulation and phonological disorders.

Carlie has also received informal training in the principles of the PLAY Project and incorporates its relationship-based, developmental approach into her work with families. She values coaching caregivers to support their child’s social communication, engagement, and regulation through everyday play and routines.

In addition to direct therapy, Carlie prioritizes parent and family coaching, partnering closely with caregivers to build confidence, provide individualized strategies, and support communication development within everyday routines. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with multidisciplinary teams including occupational therapists, behavioral specialists, educators, fellow speech-language pathologists, and families.

Carlie is passionate about supporting functional, meaningful communication through child-led, play-based therapy that prioritizes connection, collaboration, and family involvement.
